World Wide Missions
The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR)
is responding to people affected by the Philippines typhoon, tsunamis in
the Samoas, and earthquakes in Indonesia.
Thousands of people have been displaced, injured or killed and
infrastructure has been destroyed. UMCOR works with local organizations
and other aid programs to mobilize emergency supplies, fresh water, and
temporary shelter to stricken areas, and then stays as long as it takes
to implement long-term recovery.
Donations may be made through our church or directly to UMCOR.
If you would like to designate the area mark the appropriate
number on your check:
Phillippines #240235, Indonesia #217400, Samoa #901670. For more
information or direct giving, the UMCOR website is:
www.umcor.org.
ARK Report:
The
results are in (almost).
During Lent, our congregation raised over $1,750 toward the purchase of
animals from Heifer International.
The Mission Committee met last week and selected the “Joy to the
World Collection” comprised of 2 sheep, 4 goats, a heifer and 2 llamas;
and “Flock of Hope” with chicks, ducks, or goslings depending on need.
In addition, there will be a pig, seedlings and bees.
Some money is still coming in and we may be able to add a trio of
rabbits. WOW!
As a United Methodist Church, a portion of our offerings are designated as apportionments. These funds are sent to the United Methodist Church, which supports the following funds.
In the recent past, our church has sponsored a presentation to raise funds for Africa University. We have also helped to support a missionary family in Honduras.
